Project description

Torngrund has successfully concluded negotiations on a ten-year triple-net lease with the global technology company Hitachi Energy, a leading innovator in sustainable energy solutions. Hitachi Energy is expanding its facilities in Smedjebacken by an additional 3,300 sqm, with Torngrund as the landlord. This strategic expansion will complement the existing 3,500 sqm facility that Hitachi Energy established through Torngrund in Smedjebacken. The new factory will be located on the same property (Bokbindaren 1), right by highway 66 and Björsjövägen.

“I am incredibly proud of our collaboration with Torngrund and their professionalism from the start. A key aspect is our direct dialogue with the property owner, which allows us to make quick decisions,” says Jens Möllberg, Global Head of HVDC Valve Factories at Hitachi Energy. “We look forward to further developing our cooperation with Torngrund in the future.”

The expanded space will enable smoother operations and help Hitachi Energy efficiently manage ongoing and future HVDC projects.

Construction of the new factory is expected to begin this year and be completed by Q4 2024. The factory will include offices, production, and assembly areas. The building will receive Miljöbyggnad Silver certification, and the construction will be led by the group’s in-house construction company, Krafthus AB. This project will enhance Hitachi Energy’s production capacity and create approximately 60 new jobs in Smedjebacken.

“It is fantastic that Hitachi Energy wants to expand and build another factory, and that they have extended their lease for ten years. We are still in the early stages of our property management journey, so having Hitachi Energy as a tenant is a significant achievement for us,” says Henrik Eriksson, Business Strategist and Founder of Torngrund.

We at Torngrund are excited to be part of this expansion phase and look forward to supporting Hitachi Energy in their mission to deliver sustainable and intelligent energy solutions.
